Unfriendly lady Manager

A lovely place that could have been amazing We went for a 2-night stay and chose this place based on all fabulous pictures, the place itself, and of course also because the social causes it stands for. Indeed, it was a lovely place - good rooms, great food, clean bathrooms, lot of space to walk about, uber friendly staff, and close to local areas to explore. But, our experience was soured with the interaction with the head of the property. A lady who was never introduced nor any pleasantry exchanged. We were shocked to cold response to a simple request for change in the room as the cottage had no shade and because of the tinned roof, it was like an oven. And the request was just within half an hour after we were checked in and even before we had settled. We were ready to any answer, even a ‘No’ because we know it takes a lot to rearrange already set room allocations. But it’s how she handled the question and how it was delivered. Deliberately rude and such a tone that we felt that we should leave thevery minute. But a long drive it took to come here and prepaid reservation, made us stay back. We feel that being in a hospitality space, good words, friendly smile, and keeping an approachable environment can make a lot of difference. Nothing against the “boss lady” and not sure if she was having bad days during the days we stayed, but all the prior reviews kept ringing with us. I totally agree, this place is lovely but can be amazing if you don’t interact with the lady or she just gets a friendly tone once in a while. I am for sure, we don’t want to feel like unwelcomed guests.

Disappointing experience with resort Manager Aparna

My recent experience at the resort was disappointing due to extremely poor customer service from the manager Aparna. Basic amenities were restricted by Aparna, such as having tea in our rooms, and were instead instructed to drink only in the dining area.and staff failed to attend to our needs. The Aparna dismissive attitude towards our feedback was unacceptable. Overall, I cannot recommend this resort for a leisurely getaway with family and friends.

Disheartening Experience at Gorukana - A Far Cry from Ayurvedic Wellness”

Our stay at Gorukana was deeply disheartening and fell far short of expectations. The management, particularly the lady in charge, displayed a level of rudeness and unprofessionalism that I have never encountered in my travels. Her confrontational attitude when we inquired about certain issues, combined with a complete lack of apology, reflected a dictatorial management style that is unacceptable in the hospitality industry. To start, upon our arrival on a Friday when the resort was not busy, we were given no introduction or overview of Gorukana, its facilities, or the activities available. There was a complete lack of initiative to involve us in the advertised evening or morning walks, leaving us clueless and unengaged The resort failed to provide basic amenities; for instance, we were not provided with enough blankets on our first night, leading to a great deal of discomfort. Worse still, there was no way to contact the staff for assistance later. On top of these issues, when we checked out a mere 30 minutes past the standard time and requested an additional cup of tea, instead of compensating for their earlier mistakes, they had the audacity to charge us extra for the tea. Additionally, the resort’s claim of being an Ayurvedic and wellness center is highly questionable. They serve non-vegetarian food, which is contrary to Ayurvedic principles. The lack of Ayurvedic or wellness activities was stark; the only remotely related feature was a small garden with minimal variety. There were no signs of any Ayurvedic masseurs or even a price list for such services. Moreover, the resort seems to have a set of arbitrary rules not listed in their policy while neglecting the ones that are. Despite a stated policy against accommodating all-male groups, there were several such groups during our stay. This selective enforcement of rules adds to the confusion and frustration. In conclusion, Gorukana not only falls short in providing basic hospitality services but also fails to live up to its claims of being an Ayurvedic wellness retreat. The management’s lack of regard for guest comfort, combined with the absence of promised amenities and services, makes this a place I cannot recommend to anyone seeking a genuine wellness experience.

It's not a resort

This is an Ayurvedic center, not a resort. While the staff is friendly, there's no à la carte food available. If you're looking for a place to spend leisure time, I wouldn't recommend it. It's also relatively expensive. Despite appearances, it functions more like an Ayurvedic center than a resort.

One of the most horrible resort I have ever been to- gave 1 star as 0 was not an option here. Food- pathetic and minimal quantity served in the name of buffet Service- none provided so no complaint to make!! Bed, linen and room- not made, sheets unkept and stained Room- big but no service, tv , unmaintained attic ( this at the cost per night charged is unacceptable) Staff- non responsive, doesn't care what customers need/ want My 2cents would be if I would want to enjoy a weekend gate-away with friends, family with some peace of mind- then will not waste my money and energy on this
